FUND RAISING Ann will put an invitation for people to donate for the auction at the retreat and July convention on the website. Lane sent a report about t-shirts. They will be $7 and $9. Mimi and Lane will get the order to The T-Shirt Shop. There is a minimum order of 10 shirts and no set up fee. They need two weeks notice. Mimi got the inventory from Ann on the t-shirts left. We will have retreat theme shirts and serenity prayer shirts to sell at the retreat and IDEA Day. Diane asked each group rep to go ask their meetings to donate a gift basket. Kim will head committee for fundraising. Cheryl has been picking up book bags to donate. Boutique storage is a challenge. Did not want to rent storage. UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS 2009 November 6, 7 & 8, St. Mary of the Pines Registrations for the fall retreat are coming in. Seventeen registrations have been received. Ms. Retreat co-chair is Carol P. Speaker is from Oklahoma and has 29 years of abstinence. The Theme is “Toward A New Freedom: The Promises Realized”. Scholarships were discussed. The retreat center will donate one scholarship and COLA/MS will split the other. We will accept scholarship requests until the October meeting. 2009 November 6, 7 & 8 in Tampa Region 8 : Theme is “Rocking and Rolling in Recovery” 2009 November 21st I.D.E.A. Day sponsored by North Shore at St. Timothy in Mandeville 2010 March 19-21 Region 8 Recovery Convention and Business Assembly in Memphis, TN 2010 April 26-May 1, 2010 49th WSBC Business Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Theme:”Half a Century=One World of Growth.” 2010 July 9-11 Region 8 Recovery Convention and Business Assembly in New Orleans, LA 2010 September 11, 2010 HOUMA’S 33rd BIRTHDAY at main branch library in Houma. The theme is: “Happy, Joyous and Free for 33”. OLD BUSINESS-The Houma Retreat was a huge success! Both groups are going to donate the profit to COLA. After a call for a re-vote and discussion, inter-group voted to send two representatives to Tampa. UNFINISHED BUSINESS – Deadline to apply for retreat scholarships will be Oct. 17, 2009. We have two scholarships. July 2010 SOAR 8 Recovery Convention & Business Assembly Amy volunteered for and was voted co-chair. Discussed committee chairs. Kim has volunteered for Fundraising Chair. Angela volunteered to be Business Assembly pages/runners chair. Cheryl will coordinate decorations. Open committee chair positions are: Treasurer(asking Alane), Public Information and Publicity. It was suggested that all committee chairs view the hosting manual on www.oaregion8.org under the heading forms/documents. It is 60 pages long so they will only need to read their section. NEW BUSINESS –Nominations requested for position of Treasurer and Chair by October 17, 2009. CHAIR ANNOUNCEMENTS – Diane said she heard good things about the Houma Retreat and thanked Houma for their contribution.
